Bishop Emeritus Raul Vera
Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Saltillo and a member of the Dominican Order, Bishop Raúl Vera López is one of Mexico’s most prominent advocates for human rights and social justice. Throughout his decades of service, he has championed the rights of migrants, Indigenous communities, workers, miners, and other vulnerable and marginalized groups, while speaking out against violence, discrimination, and abuses of power. He founded the Fray Juan de Larios Human Rights Center and has supported initiatives assisting migrants and families affected by labor and human rights abuses. His work earned him the prestigious Rafto Prize for Human Rights in 2010, and was a nominee for the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize.
Cantor Sara Kheel
Cantor Sara Kheel is a Jewish spiritual leader, hospital chaplain, and community advocate whose work centers on compassionate care and interfaith engagement. Ordained by Hebrew Union College–Jewish Institute of Religion in 2017, she has provided spiritual and emotional support to patients and families of all faiths at hospitals in New York, Florida, and California. Since 2023, she has served as a staff chaplain at Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, where she supports patients, families, and healthcare staff and serves on the hospital’s Ethics Committee. Beyond healthcare, Cantor Kheel has been active in interfaith dialogue, racial-justice initiatives, community vigils, and programs bringing together people from different religious and cultural backgrounds.
